Environmental Advocacy Awards
Resilient Palisades created the Environmental Advocacy Awards to recognize graduating Palisades Charter High School students who have demonstrated a meaningful commitment to environmental advocacy, sustainability and community action.
The scholarship supports young people who are already working to protect the environment and encourages them to carry that commitment into college and beyond.
Since launching the program in 2024, Resilient Palisades has awarded eight scholarships to Pali High students, providing a total of $7,000 in scholarship funding.
Supporting Students Through Extraordinary Years
The students recognized through the Environmental Advocacy Awards have come of age during years that asked far more of them than anyone could have expected.
Both the 2024 and 2025 awardees experienced the disruption and uncertainty of the COVID 19 pandemic during their school years. Then came the Palisades Fire.
For the 2025 awardees, the fire struck during their senior year, devastating their community and severely damaging the school where they were preparing to graduate. The 2024 awardees had only recently graduated when the community they grew up in was forever changed.
These students were already stepping into adulthood during an extraordinary period of loss, disruption and uncertainty. Yet they continued to care deeply about their community and the environment, and to believe that their actions could make a difference.
These awards recognize not only what these students have accomplished, but the compassion, persistence and sense of responsibility they carried through some of the hardest years their community has faced.
We are proud to support them as they take that commitment with them into whatever comes next.
2025 Awardees
The 2025 Environmental Advocacy Awards carried special meaning.
These students began high school during the COVID 19 pandemic and reached graduation only months after the Palisades Fire devastated their community and severely damaged their school.
Resilient Palisades originally had funding for only two scholarships. After receiving five exceptional applications, our community stepped in. A last minute fundraising effort allowed us to award all five students $800 scholarships.
The 2025 Resilient Palisades Environmental Advocacy Award Scholarship was presented to:
Brigitte Appelbaum, Ryan Carpenter, Arik Kraft, Sienna Monnier and Daniella Traum.

Several of our 2025 awardees were also part of Palisades East, where students advocated publicly around conditions affecting Pali High students after the fire.
2024 Awardees
In 2024, Resilient Palisades launched the Environmental Advocacy Awards and awarded three graduating Pali High students $1,000 scholarships in recognition of their environmental advocacy and commitment to creating a more sustainable future.

The Environmental Advocacy Awards are made possible by community support. Every donation helps Resilient Palisades provide scholarships directly to graduating Palisades Charter High School students who have demonstrated a real commitment to environmental advocacy, sustainability and community action.
These awards do more than recognize what students have already accomplished. They help young people carry that commitment forward as they begin college, careers and the next chapter of their lives.
