Our ‘Guiding Principles’ for Rebuilding emphasize an integrative framework to mitigate future fire hazards and center resiliency so that our community will withstand and recover quickly from future risks, including fire, heat, drought, sea level rise, etc.
Through dedicated management efforts and evidence-based removal techniques, we work to reverse the damage caused by non-native invasive plants and help native ecosystems thrive once again. We believe environmental restoration is vital to reducing fire vulnerability, reversing biodiversity loss, and conserving water resources.
Our Zero Waste team provides free reusable bags at farmers markets and metal cups and cutlery for events. We are reducing single-use waste by promoting a Zero Waste mindset in the Palisades. Our Choose to Reuse campaign is focused on transitioning our throw-away culture to one of sharing and reuse.

The Water Sages team aims to help our community conserve water, expand water reuse and rainwater capture, and move toward native plants which are drought tolerant, fire resistant, and enhance our local ecosystems.
The Electrification Campaign highlights the safety, health, and long-term cost benefits of switching from methane gas to electric appliances and seeks to eliminate fire hazards associated with gas and reduce indoor air pollution.

2024 was the inaugural year for the Environmental Advocate Awards. For 2025, we were privileged to recognize five graduates who, throughout their high school careers, championed climate justice while contending with the effects of a global pandemic and recovering from the Palisades fire.
Our Veg Fest campaign has focused on bringing delicious vegan food to the Palisades in a series of Veg Fest food truck events. We conduct outreach to help Palisadians embrace and enjoy delicious plant-based alternatives to animal products to reduce our environmental impact while promoting cruelty-free eating practices and personal health.
Addressing food scrap waste by facilitating individual and community composting. Our Commit to Compost campaign is educating our community about home-based composting while exploring other community-wide strategies for increasing composting in the Palisades.

Bioremediation (Coming soon)
The Bioremediation Campaign focuses on restoring the local ecosystem affected by environmental degradation and pollution associated with the January 7th Palisades fire. A page with more information will be coming soon.

Seeking to dramatically increase local solar electricity generation in the Palisades, reduce emissions, save money, and increase energy resilience for our community. Our plan for achieving this is called the Pali Microgrid. The Pali Microgrid will reduce load on the grid and increase resilience by islanding in the event of brownouts and blackouts.
Our Gas Free Gardens campaign seeks to transition yard care away from the use of polluting and toxic gas-powered gardening equipment and encourage the use of electric equipment or, even better, manual tools like rakes. Our next campaign, Healthy Gardens will tackle the use of rodenticides and pesticides in gardens, offering the community safe and ecologically friendly alternatives.
Educating Palisadians on the importance of planting native plants and how to care for them year round. Palisadians now live in a more arid climate with less water available for our homes and gardens. But we can still live in beautiful surroundings.
