VEGAN SOLUTIONS
Resilient Palisades’ Vegan Solutions team makes plant based choices easier, more accessible and more enjoyable in our community.
Through Pali Veg Fest, local food guides, community events and educational outreach, we help residents discover plant based foods while reducing the environmental impact of what we eat.
Our work focuses on practical choices people can make in everyday life, while building a welcoming community around food, sustainability and compassion.
Pali Veg Fest
Pali Veg Fest brings plant based food, environmental education and community together in Pacific Palisades.
Since launching the series, Resilient Palisades has hosted Veg Fests featuring vegan restaurants and food vendors, environmental organizations, community groups, educational activities and resources for residents interested in more sustainable living.

Our events are designed to make plant based food approachable and fun while supporting local businesses and bringing neighbors together.
Vegan Grocery Guides
Finding plant based food should be easy. We create guides to vegan products available at local grocery stores so residents can quickly find everyday staples, snacks, meals and new foods to try.
Our goal is to make plant based shopping simpler for people who are vegan, trying to eat more plant based meals or simply curious about their options.

Local Vegan Options
We highlight vegan options available at local restaurants and food businesses so residents can support local businesses while finding meals that work for them.
Our guides are designed for everyone, from longtime vegans to people trying their first plant based meal.
Why Plant Based Food?
What we eat has a major environmental impact. Animal based foods use more land and generate more greenhouse gas emissions than plant based foods on average. Diets without animal products also place less pressure on water, ecosystems and biodiversity.
Choosing plant based food is one of the most direct ways individuals can reduce the environmental footprint of what they eat.
What the Research Says
The environmental benefits of plant based diets are backed by major scientific institutions and large peer reviewed studies:
1. IPCC
The IPCC’s Sixth Assessment Report finds that shifting toward more plant based diets and reducing animal based foods, especially ruminant meat, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, pressure on forests and land, and biodiversity loss.
IPCC, Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Uses
2. United Nations Environment Programme
UNEP identifies plant rich diets as an important part of reducing the environmental impact of food systems, protecting ecosystems and addressing climate change.
UNEP, Healthy and Sustainable Diets
3. FAO and WHO
FAO and WHO guidance on sustainable diets recommends diets rich in plant based foods while limiting red and processed meat.

4. Nature Food, Oxford led study
Researchers analyzed the diets of more than 55,000 people alongside environmental data from more than 38,000 farms. Vegan diets had substantially lower greenhouse gas emissions, land use, water use, water pollution and biodiversity impacts than high meat diets.
The estimated greenhouse gas emissions and land use of vegan diets were about one quarter those of high meat diets.

5. Science, Poore and Nemecek
This landmark global study analyzed roughly 38,000 farms and compared the environmental impacts of different foods and production systems. It found that animal products generally require substantially more land and create greater environmental impacts than plant based alternatives.

6. World Resources Institute
The World Resources Institute identifies shifting from meat heavy diets toward plant based foods as an important strategy for reducing food related greenhouse gas emissions and meeting climate goals.
