In less than three weeks, we’ll be celebrating our fourteenth Pali Veg Fest, if you include our annual Earth Day events. I wrote a Green Tip about the history of these gatherings, which you can read read in the Palisadian-Post.

Quick backstory:

In October 2019, the Palisadian-Post published an article about a vegan Sukkot potluck hosted at the home of Alicia Albek. The group photo featured all of us raising our glasses. My vegan BLT bites, much to my amusement, also made it into the paper.

Alicia knew Jordan and me from the Yogurt Shoppe, where we managed both locations together. She loved our rotating vegan flavors.

Months before the vegan Sukkot, Aleksandar, our now president, had been “caught” putting up flyers around town about the environmental benefits of eating a plant-based diet and was invited to join Resilient Palisades. As fate would have it, Aleksandar was also the person who saw the article about the vegans in town.

It's funny how communities grow.

Sometimes all it takes is some good eats, a local paper, and the right people finding each other.

Not long after that, the Vegan Solutions Team was born. The rest of Resilient Palisades' many teams grew in much the same way.

Long story short, we loved the energy, the food, the discoveries and the experience of Veg Fests. But they were never close by, so we decided to bring them to the Palisades.

Surely more people would eat plant-based if they had as much fun doing it as we did!

You can read more about how these events grew in the Palisadian-Post. In the meantime, we hope you’ll join us for the

next chapter.

It’s just the vegan-ning!
